Physlets
Physlets, Physics Applets, are small flexible Java applets designed
for science education. You do not need to become a Java expert in order
to use Physlets. The links on the right contain tutorials, download
instructions, and example problems to help you use Physlets in your
teaching.
Minds-on
Physics
Variety of basic physic simulation scenarios which can be manipulated.
Material Worlds
Play and experiment with the growing collection of material worlds simulations
- and get a feel for the forces at the heart of the physical world.
Lightness perception
Researchers in the Perceptual Science Group at the Massachusetts Institute
of Technology illuminate the workings of the visual system. The group's
online tutorials provide some clever examples of how we can learn from
deceptive appearances. Simple animations explore 11 tricks of light.
Check out the deceptions that involve shadows and oscillating ellipses.
Or for the nitty-gritty on perception, read papers by lab members that
probe the lightness illusions or present the basics of image processing
Galileo's
experiments
In this feature, you'll get a sampling of Galileo's thought experiments and conduct virtual versions of his experiments, including those using an inclined plane and a pendulum.
