Step 9: Attend Mandatory Events
-
Mandatory Orientation and Meetings
-
Mandatory District Orientation
District Orientations are a mandatory, day-long, in-person activity. They cannot be rescheduled.
-
Districts will schedule orientation any time up to 4 weeks prior to the beginning of Student Teaching. Do not plan travel or important events during the 4 weeks leading up to Student Teaching.
-
Districts will not allow placement to continue if you fail to attend orientation. Therefore, failure to attend your district's orientation will result in postponing your Student Teaching until the next semester.
-
-
Cohort Meetings
In the weeks leading up to Student Teaching, you will also begin having cohort meetings with your assigned student teacher faculty member.
- Do not plan travel or important events during the 4 weeks leading up to Student Teaching so that you will be available to meet with your faculty member.
-
Teacher Job Fair
Each semester the Office of Career Services hosts a Teacher Job Fair. Attendance is mandatory if you are Student Teaching In-Area*.
- For dates and times for upcoming Teacher Job Fairs, visit Career Services, Events and Fairs.
- If you are Student Teaching Out-of-Area, plan to provide documentation of attending a job fair in your area.
*When the fair is held virtually, attendance is mandatory for all.
