Parent Letter
January 29, 2007
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The 9th grade biology class will soon be starting an
exciting new unit on microbes and their role in human diseases. Part of their
coursework will include a project in which they will work as doctors to identify
a mystery disease that is infecting one of their patients. All students are required to present their cases during two
days of presentations on Monday and Tuesday, March 1st and 2nd during class.
The presentations will take place in the school auditorium, and parents are
welcome to attend. More details will be provided in an invitation to be sent at
a later date.
Project rubrics and unit calendars will be distributed to students
in class on Monday, and we encourage everyone to review them with their child.
Students will be utilizing the internet during this unit, and we would like to
remind everyone of the internet ethics agreement signed at the beginning of the
year. You may view the text of the statement and watch our progress through the
unit by looking at our class webpage, http://www.isdhs.edu/biology.
If you have any concerns, we would be happy to discuss them
with you. The conference periods are 1:25 – 2:15 PM for Mr. Feng and Ms.
Hawkins and 2:15 – 3:05 PM for
Ms. Park and Mr. Joseph. Additionally you may reach us by phone or email.
Sincerely,
The Biology Team
