Driving Question: How has the use of nuclear energy, and especially nuclear power, during World War II effected the status of the world today? Targeted Grade Level and Class: 11th grade United States History Project Description: Students will be divided into six groups that will give five minute presentations of a specific topic at different parts of the unit. These presentations will follow the lectures and lessons about the specific topics the group has in order to give more information about what the class has already discussed. At the end of the unit one person from each group will be selected as a “specialist” to help either the pro or con argument during the debate to enhance the argument. Background Information: A teacher would need to know current events, the state of the world, and the nuclear arms race. They would also need to have an understanding of the Cold War and the results in which it created. Knowledge of the effect the Cold War had on other issues in United States history is also necessary to be successful with this unit. |
