Resource List

(for a class size of about 32 students) (List is for all 5 Mr. Bear Sessions)

5 stuffed animals (one of which must be a bear)

~ 6 feet of white cotton yarn

~ 6 feet of colored cotton yarn

~ 6 feet of colored wool yarn (best if the yarn looks “woolly.”

1 long piece of string or rape to barricade crime scene (~50 feet)

16 pencils

1 brown felt water-base marker

At least 1 marking pen (variety of colors is ideal)

1 package white paper towels

3 white sheets of 8 & ½ inch x 11 inch paper

40 feet butcher paper

1 roll of Universal pH paper (the exact brand is not important)

1 rolls of transparent adhesive tape

1 pair of scissors

16 clear plastic cups

3 empty film canisters

1 ice cube tray

2 white test trays (“Styrofoam” egg cartons cut in half work well, if these are not available, use white plastic paint trays from an art store or white ice cube trays)

1-4 smaller dropper bottles (empty medicine dropper bottles, saline bottles, similar small bottles are fine)

2 empty cola cans

~ ¼ cup cola

~ ½ ounce of iodine

2 tablespoons of green food coloring

~ 5 teaspoons of corn starch

½ teaspoon salt

1 & 1/2 teaspoons sugar

¼ teaspoon

1/8 teaspoon

A yardstick

Stir stick

1 paintbrush (any kind)

1 paint container (a plate or cup is fine)

2 colognes or perfumes, as different from each other as possible. (get samples from department stores, bathroom cabinet, magazines, etc.)

1 wastebasket

4 small mirrors, preferably with stands (clay works are a makeshift stand)

1 large plastic trash bag

1 sponge

~ 30 strands of pet hair (dog or cat hair is fine)

~ 1 handful of grass

Optional of Session 1:

A Polaroid or video camera to record pictures of the crime scene
