Dear Parent, Your son or daughter will be starting
an extended project in their math class that will be worked on over
the next 5 weeks. I understand
that such projects are rare in a math class, so I would like to introduce
you to some of the main ideas and demands of this project in advance.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me by any
of the means given below.
The students will be starting on a Geometry in Architecture unit
in which they will be researching how architecture is impacted my geometry. The project will not require any outside time
unless the student feels they did not get enough research time during
class. Students will be working
in small groups, and there will be ample class time to complete any
group work that is required. Small
homework assignments relating to the project will be assigned throughout
the project, but will not be in addition to any other homework from
my class. Students are required to purchase a folder to
keep copies of all work done on the project that will be collected at
the end of the project. The school
will provide all other materials.
The project will count for 60% of their 6-weeks grade, since
the majority of class time will be spent on the project. I look forward
to working on this project with you child, and hope they will enjoy
it too.
Sincerely,
Meaghan, Adil, and Jeremy
