Dear Parent, Please carefully
read the
information below that describes your child’s projects in their Algebra
II
class. I believe these projects represent a wonderful and valuable
learning
opportunity for your child. I am attaching a calendar of the project
due date
and test dates. This is because I
believe it is very important that you understand all aspects of the
unit so
that your child will meet with the highest level of success. These
assignments
will require self-discipline and hard work. Please check on your
child’s
progress from time to time and feel free to contact me if you have any
questions (teacher’s school phone number and e-mail address). Most of the
assignments your child
will work on will be done in class, except for a few homework
assignments
throughout the unit. On many of the
projects your child will be working in groups.
The groups will be given ample amount of time to complete
the projects,
but depending on their use of time, there may be required a small
amount of out
of class time to complete the projects.
By working in groups I intend for your child to not only
gain new
mathematical skills but also learn important life skills such as
teamwork and
communicating ideas to one another. Your
child’s group will then present their ideas and projects to the class
where
they will have the opportunity to receive feedback. Please sign
below so that I know
that you have seen this letter and the following pages. Please give
particular
attention to the calendar. Thank you for your time and interest. Sincerely, Danielle Ortega,
Chastity Colbert,
and Theresa Hogan
