Dear Parents, This 6 weeks your child will be participating in a ecology/evolution unit. Throughout the project the focus will be on sharks, and this theme will be touched on in every activity. The unit will include various activities such as a dissection lab on dogfish sharks, a project and presentation on natural selection and food webs, a conservation field trip, and a presentation given at city hall. Daily activities will be graded upon completion, major projects will be graded on a rubic, and there will be a cumulative test. There will be minimal cost including transportation to city hall on March 12th and optional presentation materials (including posterboard etc.) Most work for this unit will be completed in-class. There will be four class days to work on each project, work left unfinished will be completed outside of class. Other time commitments include an all-day field trip with the representative from the Pelagic Shark Foundation where conservation efforts will be introduced. All students are also required to present at one hour-long city hall meeting. If there are any concerns or questions feel free to contact me at highschool@school.org Classroom Telephone Number 555-2345 Sincerely, Jane Doe I have read and understood the requirements of my child for this unit.
