Dear Parents/Guardians,
Please carefully read the information below that describes your child’s project in their Biology class. This project focuses on diet and exercise. I believe that this project will increase students’ knowledge on nutrition as well as how it affects the body. Grading will be done on a 1000 point scale.

1000-900 = A
899-800 = B
799-700 = C
699-600 = D
599- 0 = F

Grades will come from quizzes, tests, and the final presentation. Attached is a grading rubric for their final presentation. It is very important that you understand all aspects of the project so that your child will meet with the highest level of success.

The majority of the time spent on the project will be done in class, however there is a required amount of time the student should spend on the project outside of class. The project requires your child to keep a journal: one week spent recording their diet and another week recording their daily exercise/activities. An estimated time for the project may be hour per week to maintain their journals and any necessary time needed to prepare for the final presentation.

Most materials will be provided with a few exceptions: one liter coke bottle and three nutrition labels that can be taken from any food product.
