STATEMENT: I want the students to grasp the concept
of statistics, business, and nature behind the NFL. I want them to be able to
understand how statistics can be used in the NFL and business. Statistics are one of the most important
aspects of the NFL and I want them to get an understanding of that. Nature is
also very important because the math behind nature can change the outcome of a
game.
This lesson will tie in with the project “what’s the math
behind the NFL” project because they will need to understand statistics and
business to understand the NFL. In the
NFL statistics are very important because that’s what they base performance off
of. Business is also very important
because without the business in the NFL then players would not get paid to
play. I want the students to understand
the math in business and the numbers in business and why it is important in the
NFL.
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES: TSWBAT: Understand
that Statistics is a mathematical science pertaining to the collection, analysis, interpretation or explanation,
and presentation of data. Also with prediction and forecasting based on data. It is applicable
to a wide variety of academic disciplines, from the natural and social sciences to the humanities, government and business. They will also be able to understand that
nature plays a big role in NFL games because of the weather like wind, and
temperature. The will also be able to
understand that business is A business (also called a firm or an enterprise) is a legally recognized
organizational entity designed to provide goods and/or services to consumers. A
business needs a market. A consumer is an essential part of a business.
Businesses are predominant in capitalist economies, most being privately owned and formed to earn profit to increase the wealth of owners.
