Bubble Festival is a student centered open investigation and exploration where students explore with bubble shapes, colors, measurement, and technology. Examples of bubble festival sessions include: body bubbles, bubble shapes, bubble measurement, bubble technology, swimming pool bubbles, bubble windows and walls, and colors of bubbles. The amount and length of sessions are done at the discretion of the teacher. Our bubble festival will include five sessions which will be done in 5 consecutive days. We will be doing our festival in a classroom setting with our first grade students, but the bubble festival can be done with an unlimited amount of people. Each session will include six learning stations allowing 4-6 students to work at each station. Signs with directions will be at each table to guide the students in their exploration. Teacher will monitor and observe as students make discoveries by offering focus questions instead of leading questions. At the end of each session, the class will discuss what they discovered. After all sessions are completed, the class will create a “Bubble Discovery Book” by telling, drawing, or writing about their discoveries in the bubble festival. Our goal for the bubble festival is that students discover and learn the mechanics of bubbles.
