Materials Needed

The GEMS guide for Secret Formulas provides detailed lists of materials needed in each session for the whole class and per group. What was most helpful is that it included a sample letter to send to parents about volunteering and donating materials for this hands-on science unit, which can be modified as needed. The list of all the materials needed for the unit is split into the categories of non-consumables, consumables, and perishable items. The guide also includes some possible sources to gather some of these materials, such as using TUMS tablets (crushed) for the ingredient calcium carbonate.
