Activity 1

24 knee high adult socks (brown or grey)

Adult scissors

Stapler

Large blue cloth, such as a blanket or sheet

Toy or paper crocodile (at least 1 ft long)

Pictures of elephants that clearly show ears

Brown/ grey paper (2 sheets per student)

24 18’ long pieces of brown or grey paper or nylon stockings

Small tree branch with bark that peels easily

Box of popsicle sticks

2 pieces white mural paper (8’ x 1’ and 5’ x 1’)

2 large tissue boxes

Crackers

Utility tray

Newspaper to cover the work tables

9’ paper plates (one for each child)

Brown or grey crayons and markers

8 bottles of glue (2 bottles for each group)

Paper lunch bags (one for each child)

Elephant snacks for children (carrots, grapes, celery)

2 balances

2 containers

50 wooden –not plastic- cubes (3/4 inch)

Overhead projector

String (5’ for each student)

Masking tape

Science journals

Uniform round objects with diameter of approximately 1 inch (30 for each student)

Sack of potatoes

Box of rice

25 objects that weigh 10 pounds each

 

Activity 3

A large blanket or sheet, preferably blue

Clear plastic bottles, jars, and containers of various sizes

Plastic scoops and measuring tools of various sizes and shapes

6 funnels

2 turkey basters

2 plastic dish tubs

2 utility trays

Cloth towel for spills

Blue food coloring

12 plastic droppers

20-40 assorted small cups and containers (water and soda bottle tops, baby food jar lids)

Small plastic container filled with water, such as a yogurt container

Enough to sand to fill the dish tub about 2/3 full

6 small cups or bowls

Sunscreen

Large tub of soil that makes good mud

Box of plastic spoons

Several toy plastic elephants
