Sara Segura
Sara Segura
Sara is a Texas State Alumna having earned her Bachelor of Arts in History (with certification) and a minor in Sociology in 2018 and is currently in the process of completing her master’s degree in History from Texas State University.
As a first-generation Latina college student and graduate, Sara understands the struggles and importance of attaining a higher education. Her journey from high school to college graduate entailed entering the university as a traditional student and returning as a non-traditional transfer student and recipient of the G.I. Bill. Appreciative of her college mentors, it is her goal to provide support and empower students of color by helping them navigate the adversities of academia.
Sara has a background in Education (Social Studies 4-8 and History 7-12) and, before becoming an Academic Advisor for the College of Education, she was an Instructional Assistant for the Texas State University History Department. She is a current member of Phi Alpha Theta, honor society of history; Alpha Kappa Delta, honor society of sociology; and Kappa Delta Pi, honor society of education.
Sara is originally from Eagle Pass, TX, a small town along the Texas-Mexico border, and has spent much of her young-adult life living in Connecticut and North Carolina as a military wife. On her spare time, you can catch her binging on reality tv shows, organizing and engaging in mutual aid projects, and exploring the Austin vegan food scene.
