Nikky Bissonnette is a proud first-generation graduate with a Master of Education in Instructional Design and is a current PhD student in Educational and Community Leadership with a focus on first-generation graduate career outcomes. She is deeply committed to lifelong learning, and passionate about supporting first-generation college students through research and programming.

In her previous roles, she aided students in achieving success in their academic pursuits and beyond. Her dynamic career allowed her to develop a diverse set of knowledge and skills across the secondary and post-secondary education landscape. As a secondary classroom teacher, she taught Mathematics, Multimedia, Social Studies, and AVID College and Career Preparation, as well as serving as AVID Site Coordinator. She transitioned to the post-secondary world as a Career Services Educator and Liaison to the College of Liberal Arts at Texas State University, where she continued to empower students through one-on-one advising, workshops, and programming. She is also a US1100 Seminar instructor, teaching a freshman seminar course for first-year, first-generation students.

She is excited for her new role with TRIO Programs as Grant Director for Talent Search Seguin at Texas State University, where she can continue her work supporting first-generation, low-income students in their journey to college and career success.
