ASPIRING TEACHERS SCHOLARSHIP

Texas State students in the undergraduate EC-6/ESL program who meet special criteria are eligible to apply for the Charles Butt Scholarship for Aspiring Teachers. Those who apply are eligible to receive scholarships of up to $8,000/yr for up to four years.

LIVING LEARNING COMMUNITY

If you want something more out of your freshman year experience, consider joining the Future Teachers Living-Learning Community. Your experiences will include out-of-class activities, getting to know professors, enjoying a community, and enrolling in common courses

GRADUATE STUDENTS

TXST offers initial teacher certification through a range of graduate programs. For already certified teachers, we also offer master’s degrees leading to professional certification as a school counselor, reading specialist, principal, or superintendent.

3 x 3 FOR TEACHER RESIDENTS

TXST has secured $3 million over 3 years for our year-long teacher residents ($20,000 per resident over 2 semesters). Residents are embedded in the same school for a full year, working in a classroom with a cooperating teacher and taking TXST courses at school.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

New donors like Carol Plassman and Malcolm Hawkins are providing competitive scholarships for student teachers, and some district partners are also funding student teachers and residents.

Junior and Senior level courses for a BS in Education – Elementary Education/ESL Certification are offered at the Round Rock Campus, as well as selected master’s degrees in education.
