Block Information and Purpose
Purpose
The primary goal of the block experience is to assist teacher candidates in becoming reflective, self-directed learners in a professional learning community. During their field-block semester, teacher candidates will be placed in schools where they gain practical knowledge of a classroom environment while also attending seminar classes. Teacher candidates will complete approximately 70-80 hours of classroom field experience.
To qualify for block placement, students must:
- Maintain an Overall GPA of 2.75
- Accept admittance to the Educator Preparation Program
- Earn grades of 'C' or better in prerequisite coursework
- Submit a block application by the proper deadline
