Dear Parents and Guardians,

The 10th grade mathematics class will soon be starting an exciting new unit on Projectile Motion. Part of their coursework will include a project in which they will connect all material learned throughout the first two weeks.  We will discuss vectors (adding, subtracting, and multiplying) as well as graphing vectors.  In the second week we will begin with gathering our data analysis and this will proceed with students presenting a presentation of their findings.   All students are required to present their cases 3 days in the fourth week of this unit lesson.  The presentations will take place in the school auditorium, and parents are welcome to attend. More details will be provided in an invitation to be sent at a later date.  The math department will be furnishing all materials; no money will be coming out of any parent during the unit lesson.

Grading rubrics and unit calendars will be distributed to students in class on Monday, and we encourage everyone to review them with their child; attached below is the grading rubrics and unit calendar. One Hour to an hour and a half should be dedicated by each student during the weekday. Students will be utilizing the work ethics during this unit, and we would like to remind everyone of the work agreement signed at the beginning of the year. You may view the text of the statement and watch our progress through the unit by looking at our class webpage, http://www.isdhs.edu/projectilemotion.

If you have any concerns, we would be happy to discuss them with you. The conference periods are 1:25 – 2:15 PM for Mr. Rangel and Mr. Parvez and 2:15 – 3:05 PM for Mr. Alvarado. Additionally you may reach us by phone or email.

Sincerely,
