The CAT of Background Knowledge Probe really caught my attention, for that was one of the problems I encountered in field teaching.  Even though I asked the students about the basic understand of ratio and proportion, I did not go further and ask for more complex calculation method, which became a problem during the exercise in the end of the class.  This CAT allows a teacher to understand students’ prior knowledge so the teacher can decide the appropriate level of the lesson to be given.  Based on the result, the teacher can choose to reinforce certain concept or go on with new lesson.
