What is Student Support Services?
Student Support Services provides services to help students who are a first generation student, have a disability with the office of disability at TXST, and are low income. This program is sponsored by Texas State University and is funded by the U.S. Department of Education.

What services are available?
We offer a variety of services and resources to SSS students, from one-on-one tutoring to college success workshops.

How much does it cost?
All services are FREE and available to students accepted into the program. Participants need only a strong commitment and desire to succeed at Texas State. The services we provide can accelerate students on their path to success.

What are the eligibility criteria for SSS?
You must be a U.S. citizen (or eligible non-citizen) in need of academic support and you must meet one or more following requirements:
- First-generation college student – neither parent has completed a four-year college degree
- Meet low income guidelines (view complete guidelines)
- Have a documented disability – documentation of a disability (learning or physical) must be on file with the Office of Disability Services or Texas Rehabilitation Commission.

How do I apply?
Applications must be completed online.
We will review your application and a success coach will reach out via email to let you know if you are eligible to receive services. Please allow 2-3 weeks for us to process your application. We look forward to working with and helping you meet your goals!

Do I need to reapply each year?
No, you do not need to reapply each year.

How can I get involved with Student Support Services Association?
Attend our new member orientation in the fall to learn more about Student Support Services Association. Also, regularly check your email as all SSS participants receive updates about upcoming SSSA meetings and events. We hope you'll get involved with SSSA!

What's the difference between SSS and SSS STEM?
Students who qualify for SSS STEM have declared a major or minor in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) within the College of Science and Engineering.
STEM students receive these additional Student Support Services resources:
- undergraduate research opportunities (paid and unpaid)
- additional career trips

Is my major a SSS STEM major?
SSS STEM only serves students in a major or minor under the College of Science and Engineering. Please refer to the College of Science and Engineering degree list to see if your major or minor is included.

Am I guaranteed tutoring?
SSS and SSS STEM offer peer tutoring based on the tutor and student availability. Most subjects covered by our tutors are the 1000-2000 level courses in the general education core curriculum. Occasionally, tutors may be able to cover certain subjects in the 3000 level courses, such as mathematics.
