Khizra Khan, an international graduate student, has been awarded the Graduate College’s Thesis Research Support Fellowship. Khan, who also serves as president of the Exercise and Sport Science Graduate Student Organization (ESS GSO), is pursuing a Master of Science in Exercise Science in the Department of Health and Human Performance.
Khan will utilize the fellowship to support her thesis research under the supervision of Dr. Joni A. Mettler. Her thesis is titled: “High- versus Low-frequency Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation on Biological Markers of Skeletal Muscle Health”.
The Thesis Research Support Fellowship is a competitive award designed to aid master’s students with expenses directly related to their thesis work. The grant-in-aid, while a significant contribution, may not cover the full cost of the research project. Recipients are required to submit a final report to the associate dean detailing their progress in the research and how the funds were used.
The fellowships are available to continuing master’s students enrolled in face-to-face or hybrid programs at Texas State University and are offered twice annually. The award recognizes the importance of master’s level research and provides crucial support for students as they contribute to their respective fields.
