Project Poster

This will count for 80 points on the final exam. Up to 60 points will have already been awarded prior to the final due date (as detailed on the project/due date sheet). The distribution of the remaining 40 points are detailed below. The poster must be at least 22" x 28" (a standard piece of poster board). All the parts of the poster should be in third person. All measurements should be metric.
  1. Abstract (15 points)
    A brief description of your total project not to exceed 200 words in length.

  2. Written conclusion (20 points)
    This details in clear, concise language what can be determined about the study area from the data collected.

  3. Analysis of Results
    • Graphs and Statistical Analyses - (25 points)
      Summary of your data in graphic form. Choose the type of graph (bar, pie, line, etc.) that best illustrates the relationships among the various data. Where useful, include the taxonomic classification of each studied organism from class to scientific name.
  4. Visual Representation of Study Site/ Methods
    • Drawings and/or photos - (10 points)
      These can illustrate the study area, methods used, the organisms studied, etc. They must be explained on poster.
    • Maps/ aerial photos/contour maps - (10 points)
      All data collection points and transects should be plotted on these. In addition, a large-scale map of the Austin area should show a smaller-scale map of the study area as an inset. North arrows and scales should be indicated on all maps and aerial photos.

Oral Presentation

This will count for 20 points on the final exam and will be made to the class. A gradesheet detailing all areas to be covered in the presentation will be supplied to all students. Alternative presentation methods(such as a web page) are possible with teacher approval
