Dear parent:

Our class will be involved in an extensive inquiry based field trip in the 3^rd 6-week period this semester. As this will be a significant portion of little Johnnie’s grade, it is very important that s/he will be available for the weekend(s) we have designated below. We will leave on a Thursday after school and return on Saturday evening at approximately 9:00 pm. Please select a first and second preference for weekend dates listed below. We will make every effort to comply with your first selection, but it may be necessary to assign your second selection. The purpose of the trip is to expose little Johnnie to the world around us, and how we affect our environment. It will be a continuation of the ecology section we will be covering in class. The school will provide transportation and food, but the students will need to bring pillow, blanket or sleeping bag, toiletries and a towel. This lab component and write up will be 40 % of the 6 week grade, will require 48 hours (2 day trip) outside class, and drinks or snack spending money (optional).
